At Science Festival 2017 we’re created a brand new interactive exhibition that lets you get hands-on with the amazing ways technology influences our leisure time, showcase the science behind why we play and the amazing new developments in how we do it. Taking centre stage in the Grand Gallery of the National Museum of Scotland, Play On highlights digital innovation and technology from Scotland and beyond across for immersive zones – Picture This, Game Theory, Make Some Noise and Toy Box.
As well as the exhibition itself, we’ve also programmed a variety of interactive workshops to give you the chance to get hands on with technology in play. You can Build Your Own Drawing Robot, be a Conductive DJ, try your hand at Stop Motion Animation or event take part in an RFID Treasure Hunt.
But play isn’t just for kids! Adults get the chance to get playful explore the exhibition in Party On. This very special event also features an interactive game zone, a series of short talks from exciting people working in the world of play and the chance to grab a drink from the bar and dance the night away.
We’re also delving into the science behind play with a programme of discussions examining the issues. Join us to explore from Why We Play, to Games: Just What the Doctor Ordered, TV in a Connected Culture and The Sound Revolution
